The Development
Background to the proposal
In 2008, Fife Council published the Draft Kirkcaldy and Mid Fife Local Plan.
The emerging Local Plan has identified a requirement for new convenience (food) retail provision at Invertiel, together with other uses including a new Forth Crossing (Hovercraft Terminal), business and employment uses, residential uses and leisure and tourism uses. The Council identified the land at Invertiel as a key Gateway to the Town Centre and as a regeneration priority for the town.
This is an important stage in planning for the regeneration and future growth of Invertiel and the surrounding area and we would encourage residents and local organisations to write to Fife Council as part of the planning application process and to express their views on the regeneration proposals.
The proposal by Invertiel Developments would be the first meaningful commercial investment in Invertiel and the surrounding area in over 30 years.
The masterplan area could accommodate the following uses:
- Phase 1 Supermarket
- Residential uses
- Employment uses
- Hotel and leisure uses
- Environmental Improvements to key Gateway
- Hovercraft and transport hub
- Landscape improvements
- Upgrade of Seafield Park and Fife Coastal Path
Stagecoach have lodged a separate planning application for the new Hovercraft Terminal on the former bus garage site and this is being progressed with Fife Council (Application Ref: 10/00016/FULL).
Invertiel Developments Limited has now lodged a Phase 1 planning application for Invertiel, including proposals for a supermarket, petrol filling station, car parking, servicing and landscaping. Invertiel Developments are keen to establish the views of residents and local community groups regarding the proposals for the former B&Q and surrounding land at Invertiel.
Building a Morrison is an excellent idea for numerous reasons:
Jobs
Aesthetics
regeneration
convenience for locals
Healthy competition
precurser for the hovercraft
promoting local businesses
General facelift to a previously thriving market town
Kirkcaldy council must surely see that this development is an asset?
or do they want to just lie down and buckle to opposition from other bigwig supermarket giants like TESCO?
instead of respecting the views of local taxpayers they would rather listen to company directors that probably dont even live in the country let alone the area, whose main interest is keeping the monopoly and continuedly boosting their financial coffers!
why should kirkcaldy residents be restricted to TESCO ASDA SAINSBURY and the german bros duo LIDL & ALDI?
and have to travel to other towns to shop at morrisons when there is a perfect and convenient location here!
I have spoken to many residents from kinghorn to the gallatown who are in favour of this development.
As seafield householders we can only see the benefits of morrisons coming to town!
BRING IT ON!
